Because it is Christmas, I am gonna do the NPD earlier than usual. Now, I was gonna bring up a post about Shigeru Miyamoto's retirement, but I had lost the edge to do so.
Oh BTW, 3DS Ambassadors. If you haven't done so, 10 GBA games are up for download. They are(In no particular order)
Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3
Mario vs Donkey Kong
Mario Kart: Super Circuit
Wario Ware: Mega Microgames
Metroid Fusion
Kirby and the Amazing Mirror
Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones
Wario Land 4
F Zero: Maximum Velocity
The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap
Now, let's get the NPD out of the way. How did each system do in November?
360 - 1.7 Million (+24%)
PS3 - ~900K (+70%)
WII - 860k (-32%)
3DS - 795k
NDS - 350k (-77%)
Make no mistake about it. The 360 was the clear winner here. Perhaps it were the number of Kinects that went out. The PS3 is barely above the Wii with the 3DS and the classic DS right behind it. SPeaking of which, the 3DS is doing better than last month.
Now what about the software? Well only one stood above the rest. And that software is...
1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (360, PS3, WII, PC)** Activision Blizzard 8.99 million (Less than 100K on Wii, even less on PC Retail)
2. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (360, PS3, PC)** Bethesda Softworks - 2.8 million
3. Battlefield 3 (360, PS3, PC)** Electronic Arts
4. Assassin's Creed: Revelations (360, PS3, PC) Ubisoft - ~1.26 million
5. Just Dance 3 (Wii, 360) Ubisoft
6. Madden NFL 12 (360, PS3, Wii, PSP, PS2)** Electronic Arts
7. Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (PS3)** Sony - 700k
8. Saints Row: The Third (360, PS3, PC)** THQ
9. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (WII) ** Nintendo
10. Batman: Arkham City (360, PS3, PC)** Warner Bros. Interactive
That's right. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare topped the charts at number 1, beating out Skyrim and Battlefield 3. No matter how hard you try, you can't seem to top Activision's realistic shooter. Assassin's Creed: Revelations is at number 4 with Just Dance 3 at Number 5. Madden is still up there at 6 with Uncharted 3 at 7 and Saint's Row the third at 8. Meanwhile, the new Zelda game debuts at number 9, which gives it a long way to go. Rounding out the top 10: Batman: Arkham City.
Is December 2011 my last month for NPD recordings? Is this the end of the line for me? Or will 2012 paint a new path for me? Stay tuned
