NPD June 2010: In memory of Peter Fernandez (1927-2010)

Folks, before we get down to the NPD Nitty Gritty, just wanna pull something up about Comic-Con. As a word of warning, the Comic-Con will have some unnecessary guests in the form of the Westboro Baptist Church.

Westboro Baptist Church, the notorious "Gods Hates Fags" congregation out of Kansas, will be in San Diego next week to rain down 45 minutes of eternal and inconsequential damnation upon your idolatrous worship of Spider-Man and Green Lantern.

That's right Churchgoers of Optimus Prime and Megatron. You're going to hell because you'd rather be an Autobot or a Decepticon, and not a flesh'n blood human.

Moving right along, it's NPD time again. And we just came off of the last NPD a couple of weeks ago. How'd we do hardware wise?

Believe it or not, Sales are up this time. The 360 overtakes the Wii while the DS maintains its lead over both systems. Even the PS3 made a huge jump. But it seems the PSP is over 100K. No word on the PS2 as it looks like the NPD has called it quits on the PS2.

Software time. And we're going back to the old Chart compared to May's report. So how'd we do this time? Did Autobots and Decepticons rumble in? Did a Snake sneak through? Let's find out

Nnnnn...no. Unfortunately, Optimus Prime, Big Boss and even Zero failed to make the Top 10 games. While Red Dead Redemption is continuing its spot on the charts, Mario is starting to weaken the Sheriff Red Dead's grip by bypassing the PS3 version. New Super MArio Bros Wii is right behind the PS3 version with Just Dance dancing in 5th. Wii Fit Plus is still on the charts. Strangely, the DS version of Toy Story 3 is the only version of Toy Story 3 on the charts. Rounding out the top 10 are UFC 2010 in 8th and 10th respectively while Lego Harry Potter is sandwiched in between. So much for relying on Dumbledore.

Will Seth Green convince DS owners to get Dragon Quest IX when next month's sales come out? Stay tuned.
