NPD October 2012: Post-Election, Pre-WiiU edition

As promised, I am here to post the new NPD numbers of last month.  With 5 days left to the Wii U, let's get this out of the way.

First, the software

At number 10, the new Skylanders Giants game from Activision/Blizzard for the Wii, 360, PS3 and 3DS, with the Wii U version due out later this month.  Spyro is working overtime in the Skylanders sequel

At number 09, Borderlands 2 by Take 2 Software for the 360, PS3 and PC.  Because even life in space is as rough as being out in the Wild West

At number 08, Medal of Honor: Warfighter by EA for the 360, PS3 and PC.  Dogfighting has never gotten better

At number 07, FIFA Soccer 13 by EA for the 360, PS3, Wii, PSV, 3DS, and PSP.  The Playstation Portable still has some edge left in soccer games

At number 06, Madden NFL 2013 by EA for the 360, PS3, Wii and PSV.  Careful you don't get slammed to the ground.

At number 05, Pokemon White 2 by Nintendo for the DS.  Not as high as the last Pokemon game, but...

At number 04, Dishonored by Bethesda Software for the 360, PS3 and PC.  They know how to develop games beyond Elder Scrolls and Fallout.

At number 03, Pokemon Black 2 by Nintendo for the DS.  ...at least they still got it

At number 02, Resident Evil 6 by Capcom for the 360 and PS3.  Even bad reviews won't tear this game apart

And at number 01, NBA 2K12 by Take 2 for the 360, PS3, Wii, PSP and PC.  Time to shoot some hoops like Michael Jordan did, but not to go crazy like Dennis Rodman.

Interestingly, both Guild Wars 2 and World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria have disappeared from the Top 10.  So have New Super Mario Bros 2.  Is it in anticipation for the upcoming New Super Mario Bros U?  However, when it comes to XCOM: Enemy Unknown, It was around 114K, but Take 2 mentioned that the game did well.  I wonder when Digital Sales will be counted?

And what about Hardware?

For the 360, an exact number of 270K was given while the 3DS is somewhere between 213K and 250K.  No word on the PS3, Wii or Vita.  But for the Wii, it's a given since the Wii U will be out next week.  Overall, a 25% drop in Hardware and Software due to the lack of big titles like Batman: Arkham City.  But accessories rose due to the success of Skylanders: Giants.

November marks the debut of the Nintendo Wii U.  And as such, we will add it to the list.  How well will it do?  And will Call of Duty dominate the market again?  Or has Halo regained its crown?  Find out next month.
